Matt & Jhoan

The geologic process portrayed in this image is the formation of mineral deposits. The process consist of the growth of high concentrations of minerals that take place during the cooling of molten rock material, evaporation of sea water, or intense heat and pressure that allow the minerals to exist in their purest state and allow themselves to deposit onto a substrate.

  1. Dear Matt and John, this is already a very successful approach in using mineralization as a device to generate form. I agree with you with the fact that the strings give it a specific ammount of control over the final design. The question is wether it is possible to find a method that allows the strings to find their own way of forming and organization. Think gravity, string tension, viscosity of string material etc. On another note I would like to highlight Manuel de Landas conversation about the city as Mineralization of trade, which fits well into your explorations into mineralization. Also: Your reference image is magnificent, in terms of intricacy as well as chromatic effects, the yellow sulfur, the blue copper salts, all of that generates a sublime image. It would be great if you can also make use of this color effects. In your next step you have discuss one of the protoarchitectonic conditions such as compartments, openings and column. Your quasy lattice structure is already a good starting point for a formation that can support weight....Looking forward for your next steps....Matias
